About the Artist

Beautiful Things Take Time

(And some take a lifetime.)

Hello and welcome! My name is Nydia, and I am so happy you are here.

If you are a fellow dog lover, an intentional maker, or a creative hostess who believes that a home should feel collected rather than just decorated, you have found a soft place to land.

I am a surface pattern designer and visual artist, but beneath the titles, I am simply someone who has spent my entire life enamored by the small, soulful details that make a life beautiful.

A Lifetime in the Making

While I formally dedicated myself to painting in 2024, my creative journey didn’t begin with a canvas. It began when I was four years old, with my grandmother, who was a seamstress by trade, teaching me the simple act of sewing a button.

Over the decades, I have continued to sew and express my creativity through needlepoint, cross stitch, crochet, and knitting. I’ve painted ceramics and curated spaces with handmade draperies, heirloom wall hangings, and custom accent pillows.

I know intimately what it means to escape the noise of a fast-paced workday by getting lost in a creative project. I understand the restorative magic of creating something beautiful from scratch with your own two hands—and the deep sense of pride that comes when friends look at your work and ask, “Where did you get that?”.

27 Years of Shared Tables

Creativity doesn’t live in a vacuum; it’s meant to be lived in, shared, and celebrated. For 27 consecutive years, I have participated in a monthly supper club with dear friends. Together, we have spent nearly three decades curating themes, testing complex recipes, cooking side-by-side, and filling rooms with candlelit warmth and endless laughter.

That beautiful, 27-year history of hosting taught me exactly what it takes to make a space feel truly welcoming. It’s never about perfection. It’s about atmosphere, personal storytelling, and those thoughtful boutique details that instantly give a room or a table its unique character.

In 2024, my lifelong love for textiles and hospitality finally met its missing puzzle piece: painting. What started as a simple resolution to learn to draw, quickly evolved into a profound passion for vibrant color and pattern work. While finishing a hand-painted thank-you card for a friend, a wave of clarity washed over me. I realized that painting wasn’t just a new hobby—it was the lens that brought forty-plus years of making and hosting into sharp, beautiful focus.

The Pink Sapphire Designs’ Philosophy: Handmade Designs so Your Home Can Tell Your Story

At Pink Sapphire Designs, we believe that the objects we surround ourselves with should be as rich and full of personality as the moments we live. We sit firmly counter to the world of sterile minimalism and flat, computer-generated patterns.

Our boutique home decor and hand-painted fabrics are designed specifically for the person who wants their environment to tell a story. Every pattern I create originates as an original watercolor, acrylic, or mixed-media painting. You will always see the visible humanity, the painterly brushstrokes, and the layered textures and the story in my designs.

Whether you are here as a mindful maker looking for premium hand-painted fabric on Spoonflower to sew your next modern heirloom quilt, or a creative hostess looking for unique home goods that spark conversation at your next dinner party, my goal is to give you the ultimate creative confidence.

I design collections that mix beautifully and elegantly, taking the guesswork out of pattern pairing so you can trust your creative eye and style your home with absolute pride.
